Getting business online since 1995

Welcome to the website of VFMdesign. We offer domain design and support at the best prices. We aim to provide an internet presence for all businesses, no matter how small.

Our philosophy is that you don't need the flashiest site with a multimedia extraveganza to benefit from being online - your customers are looking for information and services, so the easier it is to use a site, the more likely they are to use it, buy from it and come back for more!

Watch this space for exciting developments in SME internet start-ups. If you can't wait, just click here and we'll get in touch with you!

Proving that the internet has opened up markets world-wide, we have designed websites for clients in the USA, Canada and the UK and we'd be delighted to build a website to meet your online needs. Our current clients include:

If you're looking to get online, the first thing you'll need is a domain name or website address - e.g. www.VFMdesign.com is our domain name.

Our recommendation is that you get your domain name and arrange hosting through One&One - just click on the banner below for more information.

You may be wondering how to get started with your internet presence.

Our advice is that you spend time looking at other peoples' websites (your competitors' sites would be a good place to start). Write down what you like and dislike about their sites, how easy they are to navigate and use as an interested customer.

Next, decide what you want from your site - is it going to be an online brochure or fully-fledged shopping cart?

How much can you afford to put into a website? Remember that they days of the dot com boom are long passed, so don't expect to double your investment overnight.

How will you promote your new site offline? We can help with submitting your site to search engines and appropriate directories, but this is a slow process - it can take weeks for a new site to be listed (although the process can sometimes be hastened if you're prepared to throw money at it). It is often more cost effective to include your web address in your conventional advertising and we're sure you can find better things to spend your money on!

Once you know what you want (and what you don't), get in touch with us and we'll give you an indication of the likely costs together with the options which we have for you to reduce these costs. For example, we welcome clients who provide the copy for their websites so that all we have to do is format it appropriately for the internet. We only charge for time spent putting together your site, so the more you have prepared, the less it'll cost.

We don't charge a fortune for buying and hosting your website either. You may well be happier to retain control over this - it'll be easier for you to move to another designer should you ever want to. It certainly reduces our admin! We're always happy to offer help and advice through the processes.

We don't charge a fixed amount per page (why would a page with three paragraphs and a photo cost the same as a twenty paragraph page with ten images, a fancy navigation bar and a feedback form?), our only charge is for our time.

Why? How? Because we take advantage of the wealth of freeware and shareware tools available to website designers. We keep our costs to a minimum and so don't have to pass on these costs to you.
